Senior Medical Office

The 17 pediatric oncology centres across Canada, in conjunction with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), conduct clinical research studies with the aim to cure and prevent childhood and adolescent cancer through scientific discovery and collaborative research. COG was formed in 2000, by merging four pediatric oncology groups: Children’s Cancer Group (CCG), Pediatric Oncology Group (POG), Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study Group (IRSG), and National Wilm’s Tumor Study Group (NWTSG), bringing together most of the childhood cancer researchers across North America into a unified research group.

In order to get the clinical trials approved in Canada, a Canadian Senior Medical Officer for COG was appointed in conjunction with the C17 Council of pediatric hematology and oncology directors.

The COG Canada Regulatory team submits the regulatory documents required to Health Canada (Clinical Trial Applications, Amendments, and Quality Amendment submissions) and ensure that the sites comply with Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations, Part C Division 5 “Drugs for Clinical Trials Involving Human Subjects.”

The regulatory office is located in Edmonton, Alberta and can be contacted at:
